I have been slowly renovating the old Crown Brewery building in OTR, Cincinnati. The building had laid abandoned for many years and I took it over in late 2012, initially to house myself and shortly after, my company Roadtrippers.
The 22,000 square foot building was once home to the Schmidt Brothers Crown Brewery, which closed in 1925. It is marked by it's extensive underground lagering chambers and tunnels, which can be explored on a Brewery District tour here. Learn more here and here.
Mural & Beer Garden
Recently we commissioned an epic mural for our large east wall from artist Keith Neltner in association with Artworks & The Brewery District. The hope is to open a quirky beer garden with a food truck docking station and an outdoor cinema in the space under the mural. We aim to open by spring/summer 2017.
It is a long process as I work on it here and there and fund it from cashflow, but I hope to have the building completed by late 2016. There will be around 8000sq ft of office space (50% complete), 3 roof decks, 3 large apartments (completed), the aforementioned bar/beergarden, a conservatory, huge parking garage (completed) with a roof garden on top, and 3 retail units, which I don't expect much to happen with in the short/medium term. As far as the basement goes I'm open to ideas! Turkish hamam? speakeasy? underground swimming pool? one of those mystery escape game things? bring it on!
I'll add photos and whatnot here soon, below is just a crappy iPhone snap or two...
